Meet Tanya Schoen, Accountant for TL;DR: Accounting
Tanya Schoen is an accountant with over 20 years of experience in the accounting field. She’s an integral part of the TL;DR: Accounting team and we’re happy for the opportunity to introduce her to you!
Why did you decide to become an accountant?
I like the organizational, financial and problem-solving aspect of the discipline.
When were you hired for TL;DR?
I was hired in March 2018.
What made you decide to want to work for TL;DR?
I appreciated the professionalism and assistance as a customer of TL;DR.
What do you enjoy most about TL;DR?
I enjoy working on multiple customers’ books and familiarizing myself with each of their nuances. I also like learning new financial processes to keep our customers’ books/taxes clean and orderly.
What is a typical work day like for you?
A typical day is making sure all jobs/tasks are completed on-time for each customer — maintaining their bookkeeping as prescribed.
What is your favorite tip for small business owners?
If you procrastinate on your business’s bookkeeping or dread the thought of it, hire someone who will make it a top priority.
How do you stay informed about developments and changes in the accounting world?
This is something I need to make time for outside of taking classes.
What is your biggest achievement to date — personal or professional?
That I have worked in the field consistently for over 20 years and still love it! I am also recently QuickBooks Pro certified!
What do you do outside of work?
I take care of my family — including two teenagers — and love needle arts like knitting/crocheting, reading, and cooking new recipes. I host a Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Group twice a month in our home.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
Elizabeth Bennett, a strong woman who knows her mind and gets the guy in the end!
Do you have any advice for those interested in entering the accounting field?
If you have borderline OCD in your DNA and like to work with numbers and like continued learning, this is the field for you! Take Accounting classes!
